Extensions Purpose

Your local K-State Research and Extension office
is a tremendous resource for finding the
information that you need.  We offer information on
Lawn and Gardening
, 4-H and Youth, Crops and Livestock,
Community Development, Health and Nutrition,
Home, Family & Money Management

and much more! But we are so much more than
just a Web site. Visit Our Office for the person-to-person
help you need!

We take programs to schools, gardens,
community centers, and other places.

Our philosophy is to help people help themselves by
taking university knowledge to where people live,
work, play, develop, and lead. We work at being
responsive to the needs of the people by focusing
our resources on providing quality information,
education and problem-solving programs for real concerns.

Hot Topics

With rain sparse and daytime temperatures hovering in the upper 90s, flooding and other types of disasters can seem remote. But native Kansans know how quickly that can change.

Prepare Kansas is a new K-State Research and Extension online financial challenge designed to help individuals and families be better prepared for disaster and recover more easily afterward. The program focuses on a few activities each week during September:
  • developing a household inventory,
  • checking insurance,
  • assembling a grab-and-go box, and
  • post-disaster tips.
PREPARE KANSAS: We are counting down…less than a week to go until the Prepare Kansas online challenge starts.
Curious about how it will work? Watch our new video!
To register for Prepare Kansas, go to Prepare Kansas registration or read the blog at Prepare Kansas.
